Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Releases Second Volume of Life Lessons

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has officially launched the second volume of his reflective work, titled ‘Life Taught Me.’ This new installment, subtitled ‘The Messages,’ serves as a comprehensive distillation of the leadership philosophy and personal insights gathered over his extensive six-decade career in public service.
The publication is composed of 26 distinct letters, each serving as a dedicated message to a specific audience. These include his children, his family, the dedicated teams he has worked with throughout his tenure, the citizens of the United Arab Emirates, and the global community at large. By structuring the work as a series of letters, Sheikh Mohammed aims to provide a direct and intimate perspective on the challenges, milestones, and strategic decision-making processes that have defined his leadership.
Regarded as a significant contribution to the region’s intellectual and governance literature, the book acts as a repository of knowledge intended for both current and future generations. The text highlights the critical experiences that shaped the UAE’s development, offering a unique look at the methodologies employed in national administration and long-term strategic planning. As a statesman who has overseen the rapid transformation of Dubai into a global hub for commerce, tourism, and innovation, Sheikh Mohammed’s reflections are expected to serve as a vital reference for those interested in public administration and modern leadership in the Arab world.
The release of this volume follows the success of the first part of the series, which focused on the foundational values and early lessons of his life. In this second volume, the focus shifts toward the application of these principles within the broader context of national development and global engagement. The book underscores the importance of institutional growth, the cultivation of human capital, and the sustained commitment to excellence that has become a hallmark of the UAE’s governance model.
By documenting his experiences, Sheikh Mohammed emphasizes the continuity of vision and the importance of mentorship. The messages offer a blend of professional wisdom and personal reflections, aimed at bridging the gap between historical experience and future ambition. As the UAE continues to pursue its strategic goals under the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision, this work provides a documented framework of the governing philosophy that has guided the nation through six decades of change. The book is set to become a foundational text for those studying the political and social evolution of the United Arab Emirates in the 21st century.
